Brit-popster Mika exploded onto the scene a few years back with a fab brand of clever upbeat tunes like Grace Kelly, Love Today and Relax (Take it Easy). He's a bit like a technicolor Freddie Mercury with a bubblegum aesthetic. And that's a refreshingly good thing.
The real question lingering was always whether he would be a one-album debut wonder or someone with some staying power.
Mika disappeared for a while as popstars are wont to do, and then radio silence broke for a bit with a lackluster EP earlier this year, and my sceptical ears burned for a bit.
Well the flamboyant one has redeemed himself as he amps up the promotional machine for his upcoming sophomore album, The Boy Who Knew Too Much.
Case in point, this video for lead single We Are Golden.
If there was any doubt that Mika is glad to embrace (and run with) pure pop goodness that more "serious artistes" would run from, this little mixtape should ensure his place in the pop pantheon for a while.
The new album can't come soon enough!
