Instant Classic (Saving the Planet One Cube at a Time)

There are some movies that become instant classics the moment the end credits roll. They are the ones you wish you could just secretlhy stay in your seat to watch it again.

Tonight, a new movie joined that list for me. It is a little animated movie I will watch again and again in the years to come.

It is WALL-E.

To say that Pixar have raised the bar again, is an understatement. This is a deftly plotted, fully realized world that trancends what you know about animation. One moment you're looking at real life cinematic moments, the next a world created pixel by pixel and they are one and the same.

A love story in the most unconventional sense, the characters sweep across the stars in a race to save humanity, perhaps from itself. That's a grand undertaking that could have gotten compacted into junk in the wrong hands.

This is Pixar's payoff for success. The chance to make a family film for the ages.

WALL-E soars.
