Jack Nicholson's deft performance as the Joker in Tim Burton's Batman remains iconic even as the movie itself has grown dated. Burton's carnivalesque back alleys have now been reimagined as a grimmer, grittier place by Christopher Nolan.
"Tell me something, my friend. You ever dance with the devil by the pale moonlight?"
Until now, I have been a bit skeptical if Nolan would ever be able to make us forget Jack Nicholson's echoing laugh. Talk about setting the bar high!
Luckily for us, Christian Bale seems to be tangling with a tantalizing Joker in the upcoming Batman sequel, The Dark Knight.
Heath Ledger may very well pull off dancing with that devil in the now murky Gotham City evening.
Why so serious? Indeed!
If the trailer below is any indication, The Dark Knight is coming right at us, no holds barred.
