The fold-up and plug-in scooter

Is this the next generation of earth-friendly scooters for the commuting urbanist?

According to Science Daily, If some engineering students at MIT and a Korean scooter manufacturer have a say, these neat looking machines may be your next step up from the two-stroke engine.

Designed with commuters in mind, they are following a bicycle rental model being used in Europe where you rent a bike for a one way trip from a stand near your homeand ride on through to another rental station, lets say at the train station. There someone takes that bike and rides it to another kiosk.

Of course these folding scooters would have a much sleeker cool factor when loaded up for recharge.

Maybe Vespa will make one too.
