Pleading guilty means you plead guilty, not that there was a misunderstanding

He almost got away with it. Thats the troubling part of uber-moral Idaho Senator Larry Craig's fall from grace this week.

Senator Craig gets little sympathy for me. If anyone understands the concept of legal ramifications, it's senators who surround themselves with legal and legislative teams to protect and carefully control their image.

We've seen much stronger leaders admit their failings publicly in the past. Here's a weasel that through his own protestations, and legislative agenda, deserves all the scrutiny he's now brought upon himself. I feel only for his wife and family, whom apparently found out he was cruising airport bathrooms the same way the rest of us did -- from a tipster who leaked his arrest to the press months after it happened.

In case there's any question of what happened, Countdown with Keith Olbermann, did an amusing reenactment of the actual police report last night:

If you still question Craig's explanation that it was just a "misunderstanding" Slate looks into the intricacies of bathroom cruising: HERE.
